A bold and luxurious chess set featuring 4-inch ebony Old English Elite pieces and a 24-inch Italian briarwood board - elegant, substantial, and beautifully crafted.

The lacquered briarwood and elm veneer chessboard at 59.9cm in width looks magnificent, to say the least. Handmade in Italy, the quality of lacquering is the best we have ever seen, and the knotting and grain of the briarwood is mesmerising. Underneath the board, the lacquered veneer is mounted with felt pads to protect the board and other surfaces.

To complete the set, we have added our beautiful Old English Elite chessmen in ebony, which are equally impressive, creating a chess combination that is substantial in size and sublime in quality.

The Old English Elite chessman have sleek, concave shanks and elegant, wide bases which make for an ideally proportioned chess piece motif - beautifully weighted and naturally polished to a soft sheen, perfectly complementing the satin board.
