This elegant Staunton chess set pairs richly grained Antipodean rosewood pieces with a satin-finished wenge board - luxurious, well-balanced, and built to last.

This lovely chess set combines our highly acclaimed Antipodean Staunton chessmen with a superb quality wenge and maple chessboard. The result of this combination is an elegant and distinctive chess set of outstanding quality and finish. The chess pieces have been expertly crafted from rosewood and boxwood, are weighted in their bases for perfect balance and have felted bases.

The flowing grains and deep, rich colours accentuate the beautiful design and add a real sense of luxury to these pieces. Of course, the unique aspect about the chessmen is the sparse use of the opposing colour on the Kings, queens and bishops.

The board has been manufactured to precise tolerances from veneers of wenge and maple. It's been lacquered to a satin finish and is durable enough to withstand many years of chess playing. The dark, rich tones of the board are in perfect harmony with the polished rosewood chessmen; the match of both together is perfect.

The uniformity of the chessmen is superb, with sets made up from matching tones of rosewood and only the cleanest-grained boxwood used for the white pieces. An extremely high-quality set that has come from two of the world's finest producers of chess products.
